I favour slow fashion over fast fashion and have transitioned my wardrobe over the years into a uniform of sorts. I am at a place now with my wardrobe where I love my outfit formulas and they are usually a variation of this one.

I love this combination so much that I get annoyed when it is in the wash…

What I love about having a uniform formula is the ease and simplicity of it all. Getting dressed in the morning is so quick and easy which means more time in bed for me!

I know that what I am going to wear is tried and tested, so I will look good and be comfortable in what I am wearing all day! Win win situation.

Being comfortable ultimately leads to confidence as I’m not worrying about anything else but just being myself. This in turn helps me to feel more at ease around others.

A uniform or capsule wardrobe doesn’t have to be black and white or in a monochrome colour palette. I wear black and white because that is what I love and that is the clothing I am drawn to and love wearing.

For a long time I fought against this as in my mind I thought I should be wearing something else and I was also told that I should wear more colour.

Personal style is personal and as soon as I stopped listening to other peoples opinions on my personal style was when I feel I began to really feel confident in my choices and what I wear.

First of all go and have a look in your wardrobe, pick out the pieces that you wear the most. What is similar about them, can you identify an outfit formula? Then work out what colours you like to wear and which ones work harmoniously.
I love using Pinterest and I have my own personal style board. I reference this often to have a look at styles that I like. I also take a look at it to see if there are things missing in my wardrobe.

I was actually missing a pair of coated denim in my wardrobe so I booked a personal styling appointment at Topshop that I mentioned in my personal shopping Birmingham Bullring blog post. I usually wear the Jamie black skinny jeans but I used the gift voucher I was very kindly gifted at the Bullring fashion and beauty event on these coated Joni Jeans and they are now a wardrobe staple!

I really hope you enjoy reading my blog! If you do I would love you to follow me on Bloglovin so you can keep up to date with my new posts.

The coated jeans are gorgeous, I’ve never been that sure of them when I saw them but they look amazing on. The photos are also stunning, you need to teach me how to get the most out of my Pen when we meet up 🙂

  • This is a great uniform! Love those studded boots. I do feel like when you’re wearing variations of the same thing over and over, you’ve gotta focus on the little details to keep things interesting!
